President Bola Tinubu has nominated a former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, into the soon to be constituted Federal Executive Council (FEC).
This followed his withdrawal of Maryam Shetty as a ministerial nominee.
The president confirmed Keyamo’s nomination in a letter sent to the Senate and read by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, at Friday’s plenary.
He also forwarded the name of one Mariga Mahmoud to the Red Chamber for screening and confirmation.
However, no reason has been given for Shetty’s withdrawal from the list of ministerial nominees.
The Senate has screened about 30 nominees since the exercise began last week.
These include the former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, Abubakar Kyari, Nkiruka Onyejeocha, Bello Muhammad, Abubakar Danladi, Badaru Abubakar, Joseph Utsev, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, Betta Edu, Uju Kennedy Ohaneye, Abubakar Momoh, John Enoh, Iman Suleiman Ibrahim, and Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, among others.
