President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday night promised that the Port Harcourt refinery would come on stream by December this year.
The President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo, disclosed this to journalists after the organised labour met with the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, and other labour leaders were also at the meeting.
The organised labour led out Nigerians to protest the removal of fuel subsidy and other policy initiatives of the current administration on Wednesday.
The unions are also demanding the immediate reversal of hike in public school fees and the release of the eight months withheld salary of university lecturers and workers, among others.
Osifo said the nationwide protest was successful and had spurred the president to fix the country’s refineries.
