Gaza: Blinken Tours Middle East Amid Ongoing Conflict

U.S. Secretary of State Blinken, currently on his fourth Middle East tour since the beginning of the Gaza war, called for the right of displaced Palestinians to return home during his speech in Qatar.

Tragically, two journalists from the Qatar-based Al Jazeera network, Mustafa Thuria and Hamza Wael Dahdouh, were killed in Rafah, southern Gaza.

Blinken expressed sorrow over the journalists’ deaths, labeling it an unimaginable tragedy, he also emphasized the need for Palestinian civilians to return home once conditions allow, rejecting any pressure for them to leave Gaza.

Recent Israeli airstrikes were reported in Khan Yunis and Rafah, where displaced people have sought refuge.

The war, initiated by Hamas attacks in October, has displaced 85% of Gaza’s 2.4 million population.

Blinken condemned the targeting of civilians and stressed the importance of allowing their return.
