Inspector-General of Police Takes Swift Action in Plateau Amidst Rising Violence, Residents Flee in Fear

In response to the recent wave of violence that engulfed 25 communities in Plateau State on Christmas Eve, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, landed in the troubled region on Friday. The attacks, perpetrated by gunmen, resulted in the tragic loss of over 150 lives.

Despite the Inspector-General’s visit, residents of the affected communities and neighboring areas remained gripped by fear, prompting a mass exodus from the threatened areas. The unsettling atmosphere persisted as the residents sought safety away from the potential danger of further attacks.

Expressing shock and concern over the extent of the violence, IG Egbetokun announced the initiation of a special operation to curb the escalating attacks and loss of lives in Plateau State.

During a meeting with Governor Caleb Mutfwang in Jos, the IG revealed that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 4, Haladu Musa, had been instructed to temporarily relocate his office to Plateau State for a more hands-on and effective operation.
