Islamic State-Linked Militants Execute 10 In Uganda Town Attack

A southwestern town in Uganda fell victim to an assault by militants associated with the Islamic State jihadist group, resulting in the brutal burning to death of at least 10 civilians, according to police reports.

The attackers, identified as members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a notorious militia from the strife-torn eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, crossed the border to target a trading center in Kamwenge.

Preliminary investigations indicate that ten assailants, armed with submachine guns, carried out the attack, which occurred at approximately 2:00 am on Tuesday.

This assault follows recent remarks by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, who disclosed that at least 200 ADF rebels had been killed in September through air strikes led by Uganda in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Originating in eastern DRC in 1995, the ADF has become one of the deadliest outlawed forces in the troubled region, associated with massacres, kidnappings, and looting, resulting in an estimated death toll in the thousands.

Notably, in June, ADF militants carried out a deadly attack, killing 42 people, including 37 students, in a high school in western Uganda near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
