Nigeria Railway Corporation Set To Initiate Nighttime Operations

The Nigeria Railway Corporation is set to introduce night operations by the second quarter of 2024, as revealed by the Managing Director, Fidet Okhiria, in an interview.

Okhiria emphasized the importance of trains operating at all hours and expressed the corporation’s intention to resume passenger and freight train services on key routes.

These routes include Port-Harcourt to Aba, Lagos to Kano, and Kaduna due to the presence of dry ports.

The plan entails increasing daily standard gauge train trips to six, covering routes such as Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe, and Abuja-Kaduna.

The expanded service is expected to commence before the second quarter of 2024, with the current four-trip schedule being augmented to six trips per day.
