Nigeria’s first lady, Oluremi Tinubu on Monday welcomed members of the Super Falcons team, at the Presidential Villa, in Abuja.
The First lady, who received some of the players, the officials of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and their technical teams, praised the girls for their display of dedication, team spirit and resilience with the zeal and strength that defines Nigeria.
The Nigerian Super Falcons reached the top 16 but sadly crashed out of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World, having lost through penalties to the Lionesses of England on Monday, 7th of August. The First Lady last week held a similar meeting with the Nigeria female basketball team, D’Tigresses.
The First Lady gave a tribute to the players she said they represented Nigeria beautifully on the global stage, adding that the world noted the dexterous nature of the players.
Remi Tinubu said, “Although the final result did not go our way, I am here to remind you that victory is not solely determined by the score on the field. The unbreakable spirit and unity that you demonstrated are true markers of success,” this is according to a statement by her spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi.
“Not only have you represented Nigeria on the global stage but you have also become role models for our young persons, especially girls who now see their personal quest for greatness mirrored in you.”
