Senate picks Oshiomhole, Tambuwal to head standing committees

The Senate President, Godwill Akpabio, on Monday announced the duo of former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole and his Sokoto State counterpart, Aminu Tambuwal, as chairmen of the Senate standing committees.

Akpabio, who unveiled the list after the Senate confirmed the ministerial nominees forward to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu, also listed the former Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, as one of the committee chairmen.

He had previously appointed eight chairmen for the committees in July.

In the new arrangement, Oshiomhole was appointed the chairman of the Senate committee on interior, while Tambuwal will head the Housing committee.

Lawal got the nod to lead the senate committee on defence.

Others are – Adamu Aliero (Land transport), Daniel Olugbenga (Navy), Barinada Mpigi (Niger Delta), Mohammed Monguno (Judiciary), Yemi Adaramodu (Youths and Sports), Ireti Kingigbe (Women Affairs), Orji Kalu (Privatization), Mustapha Sabiu (Agriculture), Aliyu Bilbis (Communications) and Asuquo Ekpenyong (NDDC).

The rest are – Godiya Akwashiki (Airforce), Buhari Abdul-Fata (Aviation), Osita Izunaso (Capital Market), Cyril Fasuyi (Establishment), Seriake Dickson (Ecology/Climate Change), Petroleum Downstream (Jide Ipisagba), Aliyu Wadada (Public Account), Shehu Kaka (Special Duties), Patrick Ndubueze (Works), Solomon Adeola (Appropriations), Musa Sani (Finance), and Abiru Tokunbo (Banking).

Isa Jubril (Customs), Elisha Abbo (Culture and Tourism), Victor Umeh (Diaspora), Lawal Usman (Education), Akintunde Yunus (Environment), Ibrahim Bomai (FCT), Sani Abubakar (Foreign Affairs), Banigo Harry (Health), Abubakar Yari, (Water Resources), Enyinaya Abaribe (Power), and Aliyu Wamakko (Local and Foreign Debts) also found their way into the list.
